Excellence in corporate and investment banking has earned Nedbank the title of the “Best Corporate Bank South Africa 2018” in the annual Banker Africa awards.
Welcoming the international recognition, Brian Kennedy, managing executive of Nedbank Corporate and Investment Banking, said the award would lend further momentum to the drive to deliver superior client-centred service and innovation.
“The status of this award can be gauged from the reach of Banker Africa magazine and its sister publications in the Middle East and Arabia. Collectively, they have a readership of more than 180 000 globally,“ he said.
“Nedbank last won two Banker Africa awards in 2014 – as “Socially Responsible Bank of the Year” and for “Innovation in Banking”. Before that, Nedbank won two awards in 2009 in the categories of “Socially Responsible Bank of the Year” and “Deal of the Year” by Nedbank Capital.“
Kennedy says the annual Banker Africa awards are continent-wide programmes open to all banks and financial institutions in Africa.
“They reward and promote excellence and competition in the drive to set new standards in the financial services industry in quality of service, best practice and financial performance.“
Banker Africa says those institutions short-listed by its advisory committee for awards “are not necessarily the largest, rather they are the best”. The committee is made up of Banker Africa’s editorial board and experts with an in-depth knowledge of the African banking and finance sector. An independent expert judging panel with extensive expertise across the African regions selects the winners based on a number of specific criteria from the shortlist.
