Healthcare Conference 2026

14 May 2026

Advancing access, quality and capacity in healthcare.

Now in its sixth consecutive year, the Nedbank CIB Healthcare Conference brings together leaders from healthcare, business, government and investment to discuss the next phase of South Africa's healthcare journey.

This year's conference will explore how primary healthcare, healthcare access and scalable capacity can support a more resilient, equitable and sustainable health system.

Primary healthcare as a foundation for reform

South Africa's healthcare sector is at a defining point. The need for broader access, stronger quality measures in healthcare and sustainable capacity has become central to the national conversation.

Primary healthcare plays a critical role in this shift. It is the first point of care for many communities and a vital part of reducing pressure on hospitals, supporting earlier intervention and improving outcomes across the public health system.

As national health insurance continues to shape the reform agenda, the role of primary care providers, community health centres, community health clinics and new care delivery models will become increasingly important. The challenge is to ensure that policy, funding, infrastructure, technology and partnerships work together in practical and scalable ways.

The 2026 Nedbank CIB Healthcare Conference will bring sector leaders together to unpack these issues and consider how investment, collaboration and innovation can help build a healthcare system that is more accessible, more efficient and better prepared for future demand.

Why this conversation matters

Healthcare reform requires more than policy direction. It requires implementation models that can work at scale across public and private sectors.

The conference will explore the forces shaping South Africa's healthcare system, including the following:

  • Access to quality healthcare across different communities.
  • The role of primary healthcare in sustainable reform.
  • How national health insurance could influence funding, delivery and partnership models.
  • The need to expand healthcare infrastructure and workforce capacity.
  • The role of technology, data and digital health in strengthening care delivery.
  • How public and private sector collaboration can support practical, long-term progress.
